Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.
Last updated: 1 July 2026
Aurora Stays ("we", "us", "our") operates this website as an independent hotel-review and reservation-referral service. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information when you use our site. It should be read together with our Cookie Policy. For a single place to manage your choices, see Your Privacy Choices.
Who is responsible for your data. The data controller is PUBLIC INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGIES ApS (company number 35653635), registered at Jessens Mole 3A, 5700 Svendborg, Denmark. You can reach us using the contact details in section 13.
1. Information we collect
- Reservation details you provide. When you submit a reservation request, you give us your first and last name, phone number, email address, chosen hotel and any optional notes.
- Feedback you send. If you use our feedback form, we receive your message, an optional name, and the topic you select.
- Technical & usage data. Like most websites, we may automatically receive limited technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, approximate region, referring page and pages viewed, through cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health or payment card details). Please do not include sensitive information in free-text notes.
2. Where your data is stored
Reservation and feedback information you enter is stored primarily in your own browser (using session storage) so that we can show you the status of your request when you return to the page during the same visit. Where a request is forwarded to a hotel partner, the details necessary to contact you are transmitted to that property.
3. How we use your information & our legal bases
We use personal information to:
- Forward your reservation enquiry to the relevant hotel's reservations team;
- Respond to your feedback and support requests;
- Operate, maintain, secure and improve the website and our reviews;
- Measure traffic and understand how the site is used (with your consent, where required);
- Detect, prevent and address technical issues, fraud or misuse;
- Comply with legal obligations.
Where the EU/UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are: consent (for non-essential cookies and analytics/advertising, and for forwarding your enquiry to a hotel); legitimate interests (to run and secure the site and understand its use in aggregate); and legal obligation (to comply with applicable law). You may withdraw consent at any time — see section 9.
4. Cookies, analytics & advertising partners
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions and, with your consent where required, for analytics and affiliate/advertising attribution. Non-essential cookies are switched off until you agree, and you can change your mind at any time through our cookie settings panel or Your Privacy Choices.
Depending on configuration, our analytics and advertising may involve third-party providers such as Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads/Google Marketing Platform) and our affiliate and booking partners. These providers process data under their own privacy policies; for Google, see policies.google.com/privacy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
5. Sharing your information
We share your reservation details only with the hotel you selected, so it can respond to your enquiry. We do not sell your personal information for money. Some advertising cookies may involve "sharing" of online identifiers for targeted advertising under certain U.S. state laws — you can opt out via Your Privacy Choices. We may also share limited data with trusted service providers (such as hosting, security and analytics providers) who act on our instructions, and with authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.
6. Affiliate relationships
We participate in affiliate and referral programs with hotels and travel partners. When you follow certain links, a partner may set a cookie to attribute a resulting booking to us, which may allow us to earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
7. International transfers
We are based in Canada, and our service providers and hotel partners may be located in other countries, including the United States and the EEA. This means your information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries with different data-protection laws. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers.
8. Data retention
Browser-stored request data persists only for your current browsing session. Information forwarded to a hotel is retained by that hotel under its own policies. We keep support correspondence and records only as long as needed to assist you, run the site, and meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements.
9. Your rights & choices
Depending on your province or country of residence (including rights under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, and U.S. state laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold and receive a copy;
- Correct inaccurate information and complete incomplete information;
- Delete your information, and object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time, including for cookies and analytics;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising;
- Data portability, where applicable;
- Not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
To exercise these rights, use Your Privacy Choices or contact us at [email protected]. You can also clear the reservation and feedback data held in your browser at any time by clearing your session or using the "start over" links provided. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Right to complain. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Canada, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
10. Not affiliated with the hotels we review
Aurora Stays is an independent editorial publication. We are not a hotel, booking agency or travel agent, and we are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by the hotels, resorts or booking platforms we write about. Hotel names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and editorial purposes only.
11. Children
Our site is intended for adults planning travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will provide a more prominent notice.
